In 2024, the gig economy is set to keep growing, with more and more of us looking to build steady extra income. And think about just what you could do with an extra $100 a day!
Whether you’re looking to pay off debt, save for a vacation, or simply increase your savings, earning an extra $100 a day can make a significant difference.
The key is finding legitimate, realistic, and practical opportunities. Here are 25 of my favorite ways to extra cash. And many of these can turn into full-time income streams.
1. Freelance Writing
The demand for content creation continues to grow. If you have a talent for writing, freelance writing can be a lucrative way to earn extra income. To make the most of this opportunity, find a niche or two where you can excel and command a higher price per piece.
2. Virtual Assistant Services
Offer virtual assistant services to businesses, bloggers, and entrepreneurs. You can choose which services you offer, depending on your skills. Tasks may include email management, scheduling, social media management, image work, and more. With businesses increasingly outsourcing all kinds of micro tasks, a VA role offers flexibility and a steady income.
3. Online Tutoring
Put your expertise to use by tutoring students online. Platforms like VIPKid or Chegg Tutors connect you with students needing help in various subjects. This is especially profitable if you specialize in high-demand areas like STEM subjects or languages.
You can also make money offering conversational English sessions via English as a Second Language platforms where people need to practice conversing in English.
4. Graphic Design
If you have design skills, freelance graphic design offers a world of opportunities. Create logos, marketing materials, or website designs for clients. Use platforms like 99designs to showcase your work and find clients.
5. Selling Handmade Crafts
Turn your crafting hobby into cash by selling handmade goods on Etsy or at local craft fairs. Whether it’s jewelry, home decor, or custom artwork, there’s a market for unique, handcrafted items.
I do pretty well selling my craft products as a side hustle. Although it doesn’t consistently make me $100 a day, I do have $100 days during busy periods, and if I put more effort into this income stream and sold higher ticket items, I could have more frequent $100 days.
6. Social Media Management
Many small businesses look for skilled individuals to manage their social media accounts. If you have a knack for creating engaging content and growing social media presence, this could be a profitable venture. I’m terrible at social media, so for most of my online businesses that need social media engagement to thrive, I outsource the work to other people with the right skills.
7. Ride-sharing Driver
Join the ride-sharing economy by driving for services like Uber or Lyft. This flexible job allows you to work on your schedule and is a quick way to earn extra cash.
8. Food Delivery Services
Work as a delivery driver for platforms like DoorDash or UberEats. With the growing demand for food delivery, this gig can easily help you make an extra $100 a day.
9. Renting Out Space on Airbnb
If you have a spare room or a second property, consider renting it out on Airbnb. This can be a significant source of income, especially if you live in a high-demand area.
10. Pet Sitting or Dog Walking
Offer pet sitting or dog walking services in your community. Apps like Rover can connect you with pet owners who need these services, making it a fun way to earn extra money. Remember, though, that you need insurance and the right skill set to care for people’s beloved pets.
11. Participating in Online Surveys
Sign up for online survey sites like Survey Junkie or Swagbucks. While this won’t make you rich, it’s an easy way to make some extra cash in your spare time.
There are a couple of survey sites I really like. And no, they won’t make you $100 a day on their own, every little bit helps.
12. Photography Services
If you’re skilled with a camera, offer your photography services for events, portraits, or as a freelance photographer for websites and magazines. You could also load your spare images onto stock photo sites to earn passive income.
13. Fitness Coaching
Certified fitness enthusiasts can offer personal training sessions or fitness classes, both in-person or online. This helps others stay healthy and can be a fulfilling way to earn extra income. One of my good friends started offering fitness coaching as a side hustle and has turned it into a very lucrative full-time career.
14. Affiliate Marketing
If you have a blog or a strong social media following, monetize it through affiliate marketing. Promote products or services and earn a commission for each sale made through your referral links.
I consistently make revenue every month from affiliate marketing content that I produced months (and sometimes several years) ago.
15. Language Translation
Fluent in more than one language? Offer translation services for businesses, authors, or websites. Translation services remain in demand and it’s easy to offer these services remotely.
16. Mobile Car Wash and Detailing
Start a mobile car wash and detailing service. This service is convenient for clients and can be a lucrative side gig, especially if you offer premium services. If you already have suitable equipment, like a pressure washer with car attachments, startup costs are minimal.
17. Home Cleaning Services
Offer home cleaning services in your local area. With busy lifestyles, many people are willing to pay for reliable and thorough cleaning services. I have a person come and clean on a weekly basis, using only natural products, and she is always fully booked.
18. Selling Products on Amazon
Use Amazon’s FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service to sell products online. Whether it’s your own products or retail arbitrage, Amazon provides a vast platform to reach customers. I sell some of my craft kits via FBA and do pretty well. If I focused more on getting more products out, I think I’d make a solid source of income from this.
19. Web Development
If you have coding skills, offer web development services. Every business needs a website, and this skill is in high demand. Freelance or work on contract basis for multiple clients.
20. Online Course Creation
Create and sell online courses in a niche you’re knowledgeable about. Platforms like Udemy and Teachable allow you to reach a wide audience and earn passive income. I’ve launched a few courses on topics I’m an expert in, and they continue to bring in money month after month.
21. Personal Shopping Services
If you have a flair for fashion, offer personal shopping or styling services. Help clients revamp their wardrobes, shop for special occasions, or even offer virtual styling consultations. I know somebody who does very well offering personal shopping subscription boxes, and another who does the same thing but with a sustainable angle, offering boxes of thrifted fashion items.
22. Event Planning
Turn your organizational skills into cash by offering event planning services. From small parties to large gatherings, people often seek help to plan and execute successful events. I have so much going on that organizing an extra event is sometimes just too much, so I’d rather pay someone else to handle it for me.
23. Consulting in Your Expertise Area
Leverage your professional expertise by offering consulting services. Whether it’s marketing, business development, or another field, use your knowledge to help others and get paid for it.
24. Dropshipping Business
Start a dropshipping business. This e-commerce model allows you to sell products online without holding inventory, significantly reducing upfront costs.
25. Resume Writing and Career Coaching
Offer resume writing and career coaching services. Help job seekers improve their resumes and coach them for interviews. This is especially valuable in a competitive job market.
