I love inspirational quotes. I’m a total sucker for a good quote poster or an inspirational speech in a movie. They both bring tears to my eyes and fire to my heart. I have a bulletin board in my room that has various funny and inspiring quotes right now! One is on a card a good friend made me a reads ‘It’s never too late to be what you might have been.’ I love that sentiment. And I love looking at it every day and being reminded of just how capable we all are of doing anything.
As I’m getting close to the end of my debt journey I’m finding I need inspiration more and more. I’m so close and yet so very far away from being debt free. This final sprint of $5,108 is going to take the most effort. So to inspire us all to stay strong, no matter what our goals, I thought I would share some of my favorite inspirational quotes.
This quote I love because it reminds me that we must take ownership and action in our own lives. I am a big believer in action: I like to DO things. Even if you’re born with all the advantages and privileges in the world you need to always take action to at least maintain these things. Without taking a role in your own life you will miss opportunities to grow as a person, to meet challenges head on and to really live your life. One of my big fears is that I will age and regret NOT having done things when they came my way. I believe participation in your life is a crucial part of living.
This sentiment is so close to my heart. I think a lot of us see very successful people or a very large obstacle and feel overwhelmed by it all. We can’t pay off that much debt, we can’t work that hard, we can’t practice that often. But the first step you take doesn’t have to be a leap off the cliff. You can take one baby step. Then just take another small step. All that matters is that you START. There’s another quote of there that goes something along the lines of ‘It does not matter how fast you go so long as you go.’ I completely agree. To apply it to finances- maybe you can’t pay an extra $1,500 per month on your debt. But I bet you can do an extra $25. Then in 12 months boom, you’ve paid an extra $300. Dream big. Start small. Act now.
Ok, I love this quote so much I got it as a tattoo when I was 18. And I still love it! Again it points people to the ability we all have within- you don’t like something, change it. Whether that’s personal or global, one personal act can have effects that ripple outward to other aspects of your life or into other people’s lives. By walking more instead of driving you help yourself save money and pollute the earth less. Make a decision for yourself and then act upon it.
As you can see, most of my inspirational quotes have to do with the DOING of things. Like I said, I like action. I like accomplishing things. That’s what this whole blog is about! Whenever I need a little kick in the butt I turn to quotes like these to remind me of my power in and over my own life.
